Net Zero by 2050

At Saint-Gobain Glass, we’re aiming to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Making the world a better home is more than a purpose for us, it’s a belief and ideology that drives our actions and ambitions across all our markets.

We actively collaborate with stakeholders and customers across the glass industry, fostering conversations and education on the growing importance of sustainability. Our focus is on nurturing innovation and engagement, delivering proactive and valuable solutions. To be net zero by 2050 is the cornerstone of our activities, shaping our ethos and approach as we strive to create a circular economy.

Why Net Zero Matters

Old, inefficient windows contribute significantly to the UK’s CO2 emissions. Meanwhile, glass manufacturing is energy intensive. We believe in turning problems into solutions. By recycling old glass into new windows, we conserve resources, reduce energy consumption, and empower homeowners to make energy-efficient choices.

Our Approach to Achieving Net Zero Emissions By 2050: Glass Forever

In the face of the climate emergency, rising energy costs, and depletion of natural resources used in glass manufacturing, it’s crucial that we re-evaluate our production processes. As an industry, we must be more responsible and sustainable in our operations which is why, at Saint-Gobain Glass, we have developed Glass Forever, a circular economy approach to sustainability.

Since 2001, it has been our goal to revolutionise the remanufacturing of glass. As industry pioneers in our approach, we work closely with our customers to develop and implement recycling practices that actively divert consumer glass away from landfills, instead, we’re remanufacturing this waste, referred to as cullet, into new glass at our state-of-the-art plant in Eggborough.
